In the Under-19 boys’ cricket championship organised by the Punjab Cricket Association, Hoshiarpur defeated Kapurthala by 153 runs in their opening league match.
Winning the toss, Hoshiarpur batted first and scored 277 for 5 in 50 overs. Captain Harmandeep scored 101 runs, Sahil Salohtra remained unbeaten on 40, Harsh Chauhan scored 35, Ashveer 29, Krishna Walia 24, and Manveer Singh Heer 21. Ranveer took 2 wickets for Kapurthala.
Chasing 278, Kapurthala managed 124 runs in 34.3 overs. Yuvraj Singh scored 24 and Surya Mahajan 26. Hoshiarpur’s bowling was led by vice-captain Aryan Arora with 4 wickets, Manveer Singh Heer and Asisjot Singh took 2 wickets each, and Harshit Nanda took 1 wicket.
HDCA Secretary Dr Raman Ghai congratulated the team, expressing hope for continued good performance. HDCA President Dr Daljit Khela also extended congratulations on behalf of the association. Hoshiarpur will next face Ropar on June 23.
