Hoshiarpur defeat Kapurthala by 8 wickets in under-19 women’s cricket

In the Under-19 women’s inter-district cricket tournament organised by the Punjab Cricket Association, the Hoshiarpur team defeated Kapurthala by 8 wickets, led by an all-round performance from captain Surabhi.

HDCA secretary Dr Raman Ghai shared that in the 50-over match played at Ropar, Kapurthala won the toss and chose to bat first, a decision that proved costly.

Thanks to excellent bowling by Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala was restricted to only 60 runs in 25.2 overs. Veshanvi Dhiman was the top scorer with 12 runs, while no other player reached double figures. Hoshiarpur’s Dhruvika Seth took 4 wickets for 17 runs, Vanshika claimed 3 wickets for 14 runs, captain Surabhi took 2 wickets for 6 runs, and Annaya Thakur dismissed 1 player.

Chasing a target of 61 runs, Hoshiarpur achieved victory by 8 wickets, scoring 61 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 15.3 overs. Captain Surabhi contributed 15 runs, supported by Pratika’s 12 runs.

Dr Raman Ghai expressed happiness over Hoshiarpur’s win, appreciating the team’s hard work and expressing confidence in their future performances. HDCA President Dr Daljit Khela, Chairman Tournament Committee Dr Pankaj Shiv, Joint Secretary Vivek Sahni and group association officials congratulated the team on this significant victory.

Team coach Davinder Kaur Kalyan also congratulated the players and noted that she explained the game’s intricacies to help them maintain similar performances in the future. District coach Daljit Singh, district trainer Kuldeep Dhami, assistant coaches Daljit Dhiman and Pankaj Pinka also extended their congratulations.

The victory celebration included the presence of District Ropar secretary Dr Sandeep Buddhiraja, PCA selector Gurdeep Minhas, and Hoshiarpur senior player Anjali Sheemar. Dr Ghai informed that Hoshiarpur’s next match is scheduled against Ropar on June 13 at Ropar.
