Hoshiarpur: Give jobs to unemployed, demand general category organisations

To hold hunger strike before Punjab CM’s Sangrur residence on Aug 7

Hoshiarpur, August 5

Members of various organisations related to general category held a press conference at the Hoshiarpur Press Club here on Friday.

They said like the previous governments, the present AAP government too was ignoring the demands of the general category people. The members said in a meeting in Bathinda, they had decided to hold a hunger strike before Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s Sangrur residence on August 7.

They also demanded that the Swaminathan’s report should be implemented on the problems of farmers, reservation should be given to all economically weaker sections (EWS), jobs should be arranged for the unemployed and contract worker system should be abolished.

They said if the demands were not met, a major struggle would be launched by them.

This information was shared by Doaba General Category Front Punjab president Balbir Singh Phuglana, Sahibzada Baba Fateh Singh Tarna Dal chief Baba Gurdev Singh, General Category Welfare Federation chief organiser Sham Lal Sharma and Kandi Kisan Union president Kuljinder Singh Ghuman.

They said letters were submitted to MLAs and ministers regarding their demands a number of times, but to no avail. They demanded that a panel for the general category be formed and its chairman should be appointed soon.

Jagtar Singh Bhungarni, Jagjit Singh Gill, Jaswinder Singh Sangha, Avtar Singh, Jaspal Singh Mandher, Davinder Singh Binda Mehtiana, Gurdial Singh Jalwehra, Gurdial Singh Pandori Kad, Balwinder Singh Gill Baghana etc. were also present on the occasion.
