Hoshiarpur Mandi to be renovated at a cost of Rs 5 cr

Under the plan to modernise the Hoshiarpur Mandi, development works will be carried out at a cost of Rs 5 crore. This was stated by Hoshiarpur MP Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal while addressing a special meeting with Mandi Board officials and commission agents in this regard. MLA Brahm Shankar Jimpa was also present at the meeting.

He said the amount will be spent on improving the infrastructure of the Mandi, convenience of movement and smooth management. Dr Chabbewal said a concrete road will be built in the Mandi, which will eliminate the problems of transporting crops and other goods.

He said existing toilets will also be improved to ensure that the public and agents don’t face any inconvenience. He said after the upgrade, the Hoshiarpur Mandi will become one of the modern and convenient Mandis of the state. He reiterated the government’s commitment to protect the interests of farmers and traders.

MLA Jimpa said separate sheds will be built for storing potatoes and onions, which will benefit the commission agents. He said the demand was being made by the commission agents for a long time, which will now be implemented.

The MLA said that the Punjab Government was fully committed to improving the basic facilities of the Mandi.
