Hoshiarpur outplay Nawanshahr: Harmandeep hits 124, Asisjot scalps five

In the Under-19 one-day inter-district cricket tournament for boys, organised by the Punjab Cricket Association, the Hoshiarpur team defeated District Nawanshahr by a convincing margin of 112 runs, riding on a superb century by captain Harmandeep and an excellent bowling performance led by Asisjot Singh.

Hoshiarpur won the toss and opted to bat first in this rain-affected encounter, which was reduced to 44 overs per side. The team posted an impressive total of 270 runs. Captain Harmandeep led from the front with his second consecutive century, scoring a brilliant 124 runs. Ashvir supported well with a solid knock of 72, while Krishna Walia chipped in with 31 runs.

For Nawanshahr, the bowling duties were shared, with Hiren Chaudhary, Sagar Chauhan, Kush Kumar Gupta, and Kavish Uppal picking up two wickets each.

In reply, Nawanshahr were bowled out for 158 runs in 40.4 overs, unable to cope with Hoshiarpur’s disciplined bowling attack. Amav Srivastava top-scored for Nawanshahr with 46 runs, and Kavish Uppal added 40 runs to the total. However, their efforts weren’t enough to turn the tide.

Hoshiarpur’s Asisjot Singh delivered a stellar performance with the ball, claiming 5 wickets, while vice-captain Aryan Arora bagged 3. Manveer Singh Heer and Ashvir took one wicket apiece.

With this dominant win, Hoshiarpur secured 4 points in the tournament.

Hoshiarpur District Cricket Association (HDCA) Secretary Dr Raman Ghai congratulated the team and encouraged them to continue their excellent form. HDCA President Dr Daljit Khela also extended his congratulations to the team on behalf of the association.
