Hoshiarpur: The district on Wednesday recorded the highest single-day spike of 206 Covid-19 cases. With the death of four Covid patients, the death toll reached 101. The total number of patients in the district has increased to 3,305. The Health Department on Wednesday took 1,691 new samples of persons with suspected flu-like symptoms, taking the total number of samples in the district to 81,618. According to reports received from the laboratory, 77,364 samples were found negative, while the reports of 1,286 samples were still awaited and 109 were invalid. There are 1,098 active cases, while 2,106 patients have recovered. Civil Surgeon Dr Jasvir Singh said out of today’s 206 positive cases, 65 were related to Hoshiarpur city, while 141 cases were related to other parts of the district. Dr Singh said 64-year-old Saroj Rani of Ghukarwal died at Mohan Devi Hospital in Jalandhar, while 82-year-old Vijay Kumar of Jagatpura, 54-year-old Raj Kumar and 74-year-old Tehal Singh died at private hospitals in Jalandhar.
