Hoshiarpur: Thieves have stolen Rs 4.95 lakh in cash from the office of a petrol station here. The Garhshankar police initiated a probe after registering a case in this regard. Pankaj Kumar, manager of the petrol station in Garhi Mansowal village, told the police that unidentified thieves stole 4.95 lakh lying in the office of the station. He said two suspects were seen stealing cash from the office in the footage of the CCTV cameras installed at the fuel station.
Man nabbed for dowry harassment
Phagwara: The Shahkot police have arrested a Delhi resident for dowry harassment. Investigating officer (IO) Jagdev Singh said the suspect was identified as Shohit Gupta, a resident of Shalimar Bagh, West Delhi. Aashtha Gupta, a resident of Kartar Nagar, Shahkot, had complained to the police that her husband and mother-in-law harassed her for bringing more dowry. The victim said they mentally torched and thrashed her before throwing her out of their home. The IO said a case had been registered against the suspects in this connection.
20-year-old girl goes missing
Phagwara: A 20-year-old girl, a resident of Raipur Gujran village, has been missing for the last five days. Investigating officer (IO) Jaswinder Singh said the girl was identified as Sukhman Preet Kaur. Girl’s father Harjindar Singh complained to the police that his daughter went out of home on September 10, but did not return. The IO said a missing report had been registered in this connection.
Two arrested on charge of theft
Phagwara: The police have arrested two youths on the charge of stealing valuable goods from Haveli of one Varinder Singh in Mannawali village, near Phagwara, on Saturday night. Phagwara SP Rupinder Kaur Bhatti said the arrested suspects were identified as Raju, a resident of Hadiabad village, and Dharmendera, a resident of Mannawali village. The suspects confessed that they stole iron cutter, grinder, two drums of milk and a welding set from Haveli, the SP said.
Man duped of Rs 9.50l, 3 booked
Hoshiarpur: The Tanda police have named three suspects in an FIR registered on the charge of duping a man. Paramjit Singh, a resident of Model Town, Hoshiarpur, told the police that Baachitter Singh and Pal Singh, both residents of Moha village, and Vikram Singh, a resident of Jallowal village, had allegedly cheated him of Rs 9.50 lakh.
Drug awareness drive launched
Phagwara The police have launched a drugs awareness campaign in the rural and urban localities of Phagwara sub-division. During the drive, Phagwara SP Rupinder Kaur Bhatti and DSP Jaspreet Singh met residents of Pandori village on Sunday. While addressing villagers, the SP advised youths to take up sports. Bhatti asked villagers to form village defence committees and install CCTV cameras at key locations in the village.
