Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has assured that the construction of the long-pending Hoshiarpur-Tanda road will begin soon. The 27.9 km stretch will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 28.86 crore. This assurance came after Lok Sabha MP from Hoshiarpur, Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal, met the Union Minister and submitted a memorandum urging the start of the project.
Dr Raj Kumar, who was accompanied by Sri Anandpur Sahib MP Malvinder Singh Kang, said the demand to complete the stalled work on the Hoshiarpur-Jalandhar road was also raised during the meeting. Gadkari assured that work on this stretch would also be restarted at the earliest.
Dr Raj informed that the delay in completing the Hoshiarpur-Jalandhar road was primarily due to land acquisition hurdles.
However, Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain has now assured that the acquisition process will be expedited, enabling the commencement of the remaining construction work. He added that the incomplete Adampur flyover project is also expected to resume soon.
