Hoshiarpur is set to undergo a major facelift, with a complete overhaul of all roads under the Municipal Corporation planned within the next six weeks, as announced by MLA Bram Shankar Jimpa in a press conference today. Joined by Mayor Surinder Kumar and senior municipal officials, Jimpa outlined several ambitious development projects aimed at transforming the city into a modern and model urban centre.

“This is just the beginning of a new era for Hoshiarpur,” Jimpa stated. “We are ensuring that every road, every lane and every drain in Hoshiarpur will not only be durable but also modern and aesthetically appealing,” he added.

Jimpa revealed that a sum of Rs 53 crore has already been allocated for the repair and construction of roads, lanes and drains, with Rs 21 crore of work already completed. “Additionally, the Punjab Government has approved another Rs 35 crore for 2025, ensuring that we continue to strengthen the city’s infrastructure,” he added.

The MLA also shared plans for the redevelopment of Hoshiarpur’s old city markets into “heritage markets,” a blend of cultural identity and modern convenience. “Our markets will soon reflect the rich heritage of the city while incorporating the latest conveniences for both locals and visitors,” he said.

On improving water supply, Jimpa mentioned that 43 tube wells had been installed or re-bored at a cost of 15 crore rupees since 2022. A new pipeline project, valued at Rs 7.11 crore, is already underway to further enhance the city’s water infrastructure. “We are committed to ensuring that every resident has access to clean and sufficient water,” he affirmed.

In a bid to improve sanitation, the Municipal Corporation has procured modern machinery worth Rs 9 crore. “With these new machines, we aim to ensure a cleaner, safer Hoshiarpur for all,” Jimpa emphasised.

The press conference concluded with a promise of continued efforts to develop Hoshiarpur, with significant investments being made in the future of its citizens.
