The Punjab State Human Rights Commission has taken suo motu cognisance of a report in The Tribune on the deaths of three patients at Civil Hospital, Jalandhar. It has also sought reports from the Director, Health Services and Family Welfare, Punjab, Chandigarh, and Jalandhar civil surgeon.

Three patients, who were on ventilator support at the Civil Hospital here, died after the oxygen supply was snapped due to a "technical fault" in the oxygen plant on Sunday night.

Among the deceased were a snakebite victim, a youth who had taken a drug overdose, and a TB patient.
