Hyderabad law school wins moot court contest

UILS-PU bags first position in client counselling

Hoshiarpur, February 11

The law-cum-cultural fest, ‘Aequitas-20’, organised by the University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), PU Swami Sarvanand Giri Regional Centre (PUSSGRC), concluded here on Tuesday. Justice MS Chauhan, a former judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, was the chief guest during the valedictory session. Former PCS officer KK Sharma and Tejveer Sandhu from Hermitage Centralis were special guests on the occasion.

Around 80 teams from different law institutes of the country participated in the three-day festival. In the moot court competition, the team from Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad, bagged the first position. The team of Christ University, Banglore, secured the second position.

In client counselling, the team of UILS-PU, Chandigarh, bagged the first position, while the team of Lovely Professional University was the runners-up.

In the judgement writing competition, Kurukshetra University won the first position, while the UILS-PU, Chandigarh, stood second.

The team of DAV College, Chandigarh, won the first position in the fashion show. In the talent hunt, the first two positions were bagged by the PUSSGRC, Hoshiarpur.

In quiz, SCD Govt. College, Ludhiana, won the first position, while HMV, Jalandhar, stood second. In diplomatic swings, the first prize was bagged by the PURC, Ludhiana, and the second position was won by St. Soldier College, Jalandhar.

In nukkad natak, the first prize was bagged by the PUSSGRC, Hoshiarpur, and the runner-up team was the PURC, Ludhiana.

The winners were awarded trophies and cash prizes. Addressing students, Justice MS Chauhan made them aware of the avenues available for law aspirants. He said nowadays for overall development of students, active participation in such events was important to meet the challenges of the era.

Campus director Prof HS Bains said such events were a regular feature of the institute and students were actively involved for making these events a great success.
