Illegal structure of drug smuggler razed

The Municipal Corporation, Jalandhar, in coordination with Commissionerate Police demolished an illegal construction belonging to an infamous drug smuggler in New Hardyal Nagar today. The encroached structure was razed as part of the ongoing drive to demolish illegal encroachments under 'Yudh Nashian Virudh'.

Police teams led by Joint CP Sandeep Sharma and ADCP-1 Jalandhar Akarshi Jain, and ACP North Aatish Bhatia ensured police assistance to MC officials during the demolition drive. Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur stated that the MC had received information about an illegal construction on by notorious drug smuggler Vijay Kumar, alias Laddu.

The MC and police teams swung into action and demolished the encroached structure, sending a strong message that drug-related activities would not be tolerated in Jalandhar city.

Pointing out further, she stated that the accused is a habitual offender, with 20 cases registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and other offences. Similar actions have been taken in the past, including the demolition of illegal structures linked to drug traffickers in the Phillaur area, Dhankia Mohalla, Rama Mandi, Garha, Bhargo Nagar, Basti Gujan, and Lohian.
