Illegal structure of woman drug smuggler razed at Pasla village
Under the ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ campaign of the government, the rural police, led by SSP Gurmeet Singh, have taken a decisive action against drug peddlers. They razed the house of a woman drug peddler at Pasla village in Jalandhar today.
In the presence of officials of the civil administration, an unauthorised structure in village Pasla, under the jurisdiction of Nurmahal police station, was demolished on Sunday. This is the fourth establishment of a drug peddler to be demolished by the Jalandhar rural police.
SSP Gurmeet Singh stated that Jaswinder Kaur, alias Jassi, wife of Amarjeet Singh, alias Rami, a resident of Pasla, had been involved in drug trafficking for a long time and was named in many cases registered under the NDPS Act. He revealed that the couple had illegally occupied about 3-4 marlas of panchayat land, constructing a bathroom and boundary walls. Today, with the support of the village panchayat and BDPO office staff, the illegal encroachment was removed with police assistance, he added.
The SSP listed the cases registered against Jaswinder Kaur at Nurmahal police station under the NDPS Act, including at least six FIRs from 2019 to 2024. Village sarpanch Gurvinder Singh was also present on the occasion and welcomed the Punjab government’s drive against drugs.
SSP, Jalandhar Rural, Gurmeet Singh said, “A demolition drive was carried out at the Pasla village today. BDPO Rurka Kalan had written a letter informing us that Jaswinder Kaur alias Jassi had constructed an illegal house on 3- 3.5 marla land of the village. They sought police officials to remove the encroachment. The encroachments were demolished today in response to that very request, amidst proper police protection to officials. The woman is a smuggler with five cases under the NDPS Act and a murder case against her. She had also been absconding from home for the past one month.”
The SSP emphasised that the action aligns with the Punjab government’s zero-tolerance policy against drug peddlers, and that such strict measures against them will continue. He urged the public to contribute to the fight against drugs by reporting drug-related activities to the police. Citizens can provide information via WhatsApp helpline on the number 9779-100-200, with the assurance that their identity will remain confidential. He also appealed to families to educate their children about the harmful effects of drugs and encourage them to lead a healthy lifestyle.
