Nawanshahr, July 29

Members of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Punjab expressed anguish over the “humiliating” act of Health Minister Chetan Singh Jouramajra during his visit to Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital, Faridkot.

The Health Minister was caught in a tight spot after he asked Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Dr Raj Bahadur to lie on a “dirty” patient’s bed at the Faridkot hospital today.

IMA state president Dr Paramjit Maan said the Health Minister humiliated the VC. The IMA leaders condemned the stooping of the Health Minister. “The derogatory behaviour of the minister towards the VC is nothing less than a curse on the noble profession in particular and society in general,” the president rued.

The IMA asked Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to immediately intervene and ask his minister to apologise and refrain from such behaviour in future otherwise the IMA would take stern action to restore pride and prestige of medical fraternity.
