In a display of solidarity, the Phagwara chapter of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has joined forces with the local administration to assist flood-affected residents in the region. Led by IMA Phagwara President Dr Tushar Aggarwal, a delegation met with Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Jashanjeet Singh on Thursday to offer medical support during the ongoing crisis.

As an immediate measure, the IMA has deployed two ambulances, each equipped with essential emergency kits, to support flood relief operations. In addition, a team of doctors organised a free medical camp on Thursday at Nangal Majjha village, where they conducted health check-ups and distributed crucial medicines to residents impacted by the floods. This camp marks the first of many planned relief initiatives, which will be conducted regularly in the worst-hit areas in coordination with local authorities.

Among the prominent doctors who participated in the camp were Dr Poonam, Dr Jasjit Virk, Dr Mohan Singh, Dr Boota Ram Gill, Dr Anil Tandon, and Dr Ramesh Arora. The team emphasised their focus not only on providing immediate medical aid but also on preventing the outbreak of post-flood diseases. To this end, the IMA has committed to distributing mosquito nets, repellents, and educational materials to help villagers adopt precautionary health measures in the aftermath of the floods.

Dr Tushar Aggarwal spoke on the importance of timely medical intervention in disaster-stricken areas, highlighting the IMA’s commitment to supporting the community during this challenging period. SDM Jashanjeet Singh praised the proactive efforts of the medical team and assured them of full administrative cooperation in identifying areas that need urgent medical attention.

Through this initiative, IMA Phagwara has not only addressed the immediate health needs of flood victims but also underscored the critical role of the medical community in preventing the spread of epidemics in disaster-affected areas.
