In a significant step toward standardising and strengthening paramedical education in Punjab, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) and the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Punjab on signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at introducing structured paramedical courses across private hospitals in the state.

The MoU was formally signed by Dr Rajeev Sood, Vice-Chancellor, BFUHS, and Dr Vikas Chhabra, State President, IMA Punjab, marking a transformative collaboration between the state’s apex health university and the largest representative body of modern medical professionals.

Under this partnership, paramedical courses will be conducted in selected private hospitals across Punjab, with BFUHS providing the official course curriculum, academic oversight, and certification standards. The collaboration also includes specialized skill training modules, ensuring students receive hands-on practical exposure in real clinical settings.

A notable feature of this agreement is that the certifications issued under BFUHS will be valid not only across India but also recognised internationally, opening global employment opportunities for trained healthcare professionals emerging from Punjab.

Dr Rajeev Sood emphasised that the initiative would address the growing demand for skilled paramedical staff and elevate the overall quality of healthcare delivery.

Dr Vikas Chhabra highlighted that this MoU reflects IMA Punjab’s commitment to strengthening medical education, empowering private hospitals to contribute to workforce development, and ensuring uniform standards of training.
