One booked for hurting feelings
Phagwara: The Nakodar Sadar police have booked one person on the charge of hurting religious sentiments. Investigating Officer (IO) Balvir Singh said the accused was identified as Sukhveer Singh, a resident of Ajnala Road, Fatehgarh Churrian town, Batala. Dharmindar, a resident of Nagal Jiwan village, complained to the police that the accused used defamatory words against Baghwan Valmiki on social media and outraged religious feelings of his community. The IO said a zero FIR was registered against the accused and sent to Fatehgarh Churrian police station as the place of the incident is situated there.
Six booked for assault, snatching
Phagwara: The Mehatpur police have booked six miscreants on charges of assault and snatching cash. Investigating Officer (IO) Puran Singh said the accused were identified as Lov, Sonu and Jagga, residents of Aadramaan village, and Deepa, Billu and Harman, residents of Mehatpur. Sandeep of Aadramaan village complained to the police that the accused waylaid him on August 15, attacked him with weapons, snatched Rs 1,900 and a smartphone, while threatening him. The IO said that a case under Sections 304(2) (snatching), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 351(3(criminal intimidation), 191(3) (rioting), 190(unlawful assembly) and 324(4) (mischief) of the BNS was registered against accused and further probe initiated into the incident.
One booked for rash driving
Phagwara: The Mehatpur police have booked an unidentified driver on charges of rash driving and mischief. Amarjit Singh, a resident of Mohalla Ravidaspura, Nakodar, complained to the police that an unidentified person was driving his vehicle fast and negligently, and hit his car, seriously injured him and damaged his vehicle. Investigating Officer (IO) Kashmir Singh said a case under Sections 281(rash driving on the public highway), 125(a), 125(B) (causing grievous hurt by endangering life or personal safety of others), and 324(4) (mischief) of the BNS was registered against an unidentified driver in this connection.
Man arrested under NDPS Act
Phagwara: The Nakodar Sadar police have arrested a drug peddler on the charge of selling intoxicating tablets. Investigating Officer (IO) Kulwindar Singh said 23 intoxicating tablets (loose) were recovered from the possession of the accused, identified as Santokh Singh, alias Sukha, a resident of Rahimpur village. The IO said a case under Sections 22/61/85 of the NDPS Act was registered against the accused.
Six booked for halting work in village
Phagwara: The Nakodar Sadar police have booked six villagers, including a panchayat member (Panch), on the charge of stopping development work in a village. Investigating officer (IO) Gurnam Singh said the accused were identified as Rannjit Singh, Pappu, and his brothers Kaka, Lov and Khapat, and Parminder Singh, Gill village. Daljit Kaur, sarpanch of Gill village, complained to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), and Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO) that the accused stopped the solid waste management development work in the village, and abused the panchayat, assaulted labourers on work, and stole bricks and sand from the spot. The IO said a case under Sections 132(assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 221(obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), and 303(theft) of the BNS was registered against the accused.
