Phagwara: The Bilga police have arrested a villager for selling banned Chinese string. The accused had been identified as Parmindar Singh, alias Pinka, a resident of Mao Sahib village. The police were on a patrolling duty and reached Mao Sahib village and noticed a man standing in front of Harsh Kariana Store, selling kites and string. The police arrested him and seized 12 spools of banned string. A case under section 223 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by a public servant) of the BNS and released the accused on bail as the crime is bailable.
Man held for stealing bike
Phagwara: The Mehatpur police have arrested a person and booked another on the charge of stealing garlic bags and a motorcycle. The accused has been identified as Sandeep Singh, alias Soni, a resident of Raipur Arian village. Surjit Singh of Raipur Gujran village complained to the police that the accused barged into his house on November 7, 2024, and stole his motorcycle and two garlic bags lying nearby. A case had been registered against the accused and his accomplice Buta Singh. oc
Computers, parts stolen
Phagwara: The police have arrested a miscreant on the charge of stealing computers and parts from a village society. The accused had been identified as Bakhshish Singh of Singhpur village. Jugraj Singh complained to the police that the accused stole two computers, two LCDs, one UPC keyboard and a mouse from village society on January 9 night. A case had been registered.
29 booked for assault, theft
Phagwara: The Nakodar police have booked 29 persons on the charges of assault, criminal intimidation, house trespass and theft. The identified accused were residents of Uggi village. There were 20 unidentified accomplices in the case. Kuldeep Sabharwal of Rahimpur village complained to the police that the accused ransacked his welding shop with a crane on January 12, assaulted him, used abusive language against him, stole Rs 70,000, CCTV cameras and DVR from his shop.
Youth held for kidnapping
Nakodar: The Mehatpur police have arrested a youth on the charge of kidnapping a minor girl. The accused had been identified as Rajiv Kumar, alias Kulu, a resident of Sangowal village. Raju of the same village had complained to the police that the accused kidnapped his minor daughter on November 21 on the pretext of marriage. A case was registered against the accused.
Three arrested for betting
Hoshiarpur: The police arrested three accused for betting and recovered cash and betting slips worth Rs 6,610 from them. The accused have been identified as Ram Ratan Sahni of Shastri Nagar, Manoj Kumar of Sunder Nagar and Pawan Kumar of Mithewal.
