Phagwara: The police arrested a drug smuggler and seized 100 gm of heroin from his possession on Sunday night. SSP, Kapurthala, Gaurav Toora said the accused Gurditt Singh of village Dograwal near Subhanpur was nabbed at a check point near Guru Nanak Nagar, Kapurthala. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused. In another case, the police have arrested a person and recovered 10 gm of heroin from him.

Youth found dead in field

Hoshiarpur: The body of a youth was recovered from a sugarcane field at village Jahura. Raj of Jallowal told the police that her son Ajay Kumar (25) had gone to village Rajpur in district Kapurthala on December 7 to get some items for his sister but did not return. According to her, on December 8, she received an information that the blood-stained body of his son was lying in a sugarcane field. The police have taken the body into custody and after registering a case of murder in this regard.

Youth dies in accident

Hoshiarpur: A youth died in a road accident on the Hoshiarpur-Tanda road. Krishan Lal, a resident of village Chadiyal, told the police that Gurvinder Singh, a resident of his village, was on his bike. When Gurvinder reached near the turn of the village, another bike rider hit him, leaving Gurvinder dead. The police has registered a case against the accused driver Amritpal Singh, resident of Pandori Mayal.

3 mobiles found in jail bathroom

Hoshiarpur: The administration of the Central Jail has recovered three mobile phones from the bathroom of a barrack on the jail premises. Satnam Singh, Assistant Superintendent, said the jail administration had recovered three keypads from the bathroom during the investigation of barrack number 22. After receiving the complaint, the police have started action after registering a case.
