Phagwara: The police have booked a Jalandhar village woman on the charge of plotting an attack on a youth. The accused has been identified as Sharanjit Kaur of Sarmastpur village. Jaskaran Singh (22) of Ladhewali village complained to the police that he was returning home on December 1 night when two miscreants waylaid and attacked him near the Kapurthala by-pass and ransacked his vehicle. He said Jaskaran Kaur conspired this attack, adding that he had received an international phone call threatening him to keep himself away from their issue otherwise he would be attacked.

Drug peddler arrested

Phagwara: The police have arrested a person on the charge of selling heroin. Investigating officer Bodh Raj said 5 gram of heroin was recovered from the possession of the accused identified as Rajinder Kumar, alias Gogi, a resident of Mohalla Parainchiyan, Nurmahal. A case has been registered against the accused.

Two held for smuggling

Phagwara: The police have arrested a resident on the charge of smuggling liquor. As many as 34 bottles of IMFL were recovered from the accused Vikrant Bhatia, a resident of Shahkot, which were loaded in a car. A case under Sections 61/1/14 of the Excise Act has been registered against the accused. In another case, the police arrested Gurdeep Singh of Moenwal village with nine bottles of country-made liquor.
