The police have registered a case three accused for allegedly cheating a man of Rs 35 lakh on the promise of sending him abroad. Rajwinder Singh of Khanoda village filed a complaint with the SSP. He stated that Ranjeet Singh Sandhu, alias Rana, Mandeep Kaur Sandhu, and Balveer Singh, of Lalwan village, had allegedly duped him of Rs 35 lakh on the promise of sending him to Canada. DSP Chabbewal investigated the complaint on the orders of the SSP. After investigation, the Mehtiana police registered a case against the three accused.
Agent booked for cheating
Rajwant Singh, a resident of Atalgarh village, told the Dasuha police that travel agent Kulwinder Singh, a resident of Khaukhar village, had allegedly cheated him of Rs 13.50 lakh on the pretext of sending his son Sukhwinder Singh to Canada on a visitor visa. After registering case, the police initiated further action into the matter.
Five held with drugs, liquor
The Model Town police arrested Saurabh Sharma of Mohalla Tibba Sahib and recovered 42 grams of heroin from him. The Mahilpur police arrested Buta Singh of Meghowl and recovered a huge amount of banned pills from him. The Tanda police arrested Manjinder Singh, alias Amit, and Avtar Singh, of Vinpalke and recovered huge amount of banned tablets from them. The Bullowal police arrested Ram Avtar of Dusdarka, and recovered 16 bottles of liquor from him.
Two arrested for betting
Hoshiarpur: The of Model Town police arrested two accused while betting and recovered Rs 22,120 in cash and satta slips from them. The accused were identified as Sunil Kumar, alias Sheela, of Basi Khabaju, and Rajinder Singh, alias Dollar, of Domowal.
