In Brief: Two held for illegal mining

Hoshiarpur: The Model Town police raided Chadiyal village after receiving a tip-off and arrested two persons on the charge of illegal mining. The police seized one JCB machine and two tipper trucks from the spot. The arrested accused were identified as Somnath, a resident Kakkon village, and Sukhwinder Kumar, a resident Pathiyal village. The police have initiated probe into the matter after registering a case in this connection.

Two held with liquor, drug

Hoshiarpur: The district police have arrested two accused after recovering drugs from them. According to the information, officials of the Haryana police station arrested Sunny, a resident Ward No. 7 and recovered 25 bottles of liquor from him. In second incident, the Mukerian police arrested Phillips, a resident Mansoorpur, during patrolling in the area and recovered 65 grams of intoxicating powder from his possession.

Three arrested with drugs

Hoshiarpur: The police have arrested three persons with drugs from different places in the district. According to information, the Model Town police, during a raid in the area, arrested Ishu, a resident of Balveer Colony, and recovered 13 grams of narcotic powder from his possession. In the second incident the Mahilpur police, during a raid in the area, arrested Davinder Singh, a resident of Binjo, and Vicky, a resident of Bahbalpur, and recovered 140 grams of narcotic powder from their possession.
