In Brief: Minor girl abducted
Phagwara: On a complaint lodged by a Bihari migrant woman Maya Devi, presently residing at Chachoki Colony here, the police have registered a case against one unknown person on the charge of abducting minor daughter of the complainant. The girl is missing since February 5. The complainant told the police that her daughter was a Class VII student of the village school. Expressing doubts, she said an unknown youth abducted her daughter on the pretext of marriage. The police have initiated a probe into the matter and launched a search for the missing girl.
Bikers snatch woman’s chain
Phagwara: Two unidentified bike-borne miscreants snatched a gold chain from Jaswinder Kaur, a resident of Rawalpindi village. The victim was going along with her son on her Activa scooter to Chack Hakim village to pay obeisance at Guru Ravi Dass Temple when the motorcyclists snatched her gold chain and managed to flee from the spot. The police have registered a case in this connection.
Thieves steal cash from shop
Phagwara: The Nakodar Sadar police have booked miscreants for stealing cash from a shop. Gagan Deep Singh, a resident of Gill village, complained to the police that unidentified miscreants barged into his medical store on February 10 night and decamped with Rs 10,000. Investigating Officer Jasal Singh said case under Sections 331 (house trespass) and 380 (theft in dwelling house) of the BNS was registered against the accused.
3 booked for snatching cash
Phagwara: The Shahkot police have booked three unidentified car-borne assailants on the charge of snatching cash. Lovneesh Kumar, a resident of Rupewal village, complained to the police that three car- borne unidentified accused waylaid him on February 7 evening near Nakodar and snatched his bag containing Rs 28,000. Investigating Officer Lakhveer Singh said a case had been registered against unidentified accused.
Drug peddler held under NDPS Act
Phagwara: The Nakodar Sadar police have arrested a drug peddler on the charge of selling intoxicant tablets. Investigating officer (IO) Major Singh said 271 intoxicating tablets were recovered from the possession of the accused identified as Vikramjot, alias Bika, a resident of Sharakpur village in Kapurthala. The IO said a case under Sections 22, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act was registered against the accused.

Man held with 10gm heroin
Phagwara: The Mehatpur police have arrested a drug peddler on the charge of selling heroin. Investigating officer (IO) Gurnam Singh said that 10 gm of heroin was recovered from the possession of the accused identified as Gurmit Singh, a resident of Dharme Dian Chhana village. The IO said a case under Sections 21-B, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act was registered against the accused.
