Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum enter Surjit Hockey semis

Indian Oil Mumbai and Bharat Petroleum Mumbai advanced to the semi-finals of the 42nd Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament. Two quarter-final matches were played at the Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium. On October 31, Indian Railways Delhi will take on Indian Navy Mumbai in the first semi-final, while Bharat Petroleum Mumbai will face Indian Oil Mumbai in the second semi-final.

The first quarter-final was played between Bharat Petroleum Mumbai and Army XI Delhi. Both the teams were level at half time. After half time, in the 48th minute of the fourth quarter, Army's Atish Dodri converted a penalty stroke into a goal to make the score 1-0. In the 50th minute, Bharat Petroleum's Shahrukh Ali scored a field goal to make the score 1-1. Both the teams remained level at 1-1 till the end of the stipulated time.

Bharat Petroleum Mumbai won the penalty shootout 3-0 and entered the semi-finals. The second quarter-final match was played between Punjab Police Jalandhar and last year's winner Indian Oil Mumbai.

In the second minute and in the seventh minute of the game, Indian hockey team captain Olympian Harmanpreet Singh converted both the penalty corners into goals to make Punjab Police 2-0 ahead. Punjab Police was leading 2-0 at half time. In the 31st minute of the game, Indian Oil's Sunil Yadav converted a penalty stroke into a goal to make the score 1-2. In the 35th minute of the game, Gurjinder Singh of Indian Oil converted a penalty corner into a goal to make the score 2-2. In the 50th minute of the game, Talwinder Singh of Indian Oil scored a field goal to make the score 3-2.

In the 52nd minute, Harmanpreet Singh scored a goal to make the score 3-3. In the very next minute of the game, Talwinder Singh of Indian Oil scored a goal to make the score 4-3. In the last minute of the game, Olympian Harmanpreet Singh converted a penalty corner into a goal to make the score 4-4 to level the match. In the penalty shootout, Indian Oil Mumbai defeated Punjab Police Jalandhar 4-3 and entered the semi-finals. The chief guests of today's matches were Ramnik Singh Randhawa, Chairman Jalandhar Improvement Trust, Sarabjit Singh Samra (MD Capital Local Area Bank), Praveen Sachdeva (Indian Oil), Balbir Raj PCS RTA, introduced the teams.

The semi-final fixtures on October 31 are Indian Navy Mumbai versus Indian Railways Delhi at 5.30 pm, followed by Bharat Petroleum Mumbai versus Indian Oil Mumbai at 7.00 pm.
