Inter-zonal fest begins at IKGPTU

“Youth Festivals always give the message to move ahead towards victory with energy, enthusiasm and spirit. Their continuation is must. It is much required for the students of technical education specially. The educational institutes must continue these fests.”
This was the message of Vice-Chancellor IK Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) Prof Dr Ajay Sharma. He was addressing the students as the chief guest of the inaugural ceremony of Inter Zonal Youth Festival on the campus of the university.
He said: “It is a matter of pride that IKGPTU is hosting the fest in its own campus in newly built Sri Guru Nanak Dev auditorium.” He gave detailed information about the work to be done by the university in future for the welfare of the students.
Dr Baljeet Singh Sekhon, former director, youth affairs, Guru Nanak Dev University, was present as the special guest. During the lamp lighting ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, Dr Sekhon, Dean Dr AP Singh, Dean Dr Balkar Singh, Registrar Dr SS Walia, Joint Registrar Dr RPS Bedi were also present.
The function started with the recital of Shabad ‘Satguru Nanak Pargateya’ by students. The university dedicated the fest to the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev. On the first day, students of 36 colleges competed in 15 events, including essay writing, poetry recitation short stories, quiz and bhangra.
