Inter-Zonal Youth Festival
Jalandhar: IK Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) organised an Inter-Zonal Youth Festival. During the inaugural session, Prof Susheel Mittal, Vice-Chancellor, IKGPTU, lit the ceremonial lamp. The Shabad ‘Deh Shiva Bar Mohe Ehai’ was sung by the students. The welcome speech was read by Dean Students Welfare, Dr Gaurav Bhargava. Registrar Dr SK Mishra praised the intellectual and academic development of the young generation. At the start of cultural ceremony, the first performance was a dance on the song ‘Mahabharata’ by the university students Neha, Samiksha and their team. Competitions were organised in Punjabi folk dance bhangra, mimicry, mime, classical dance, classical vocal solo, classical instrumental solo, group shabad/bhajan, debate, creative writing, quiz, on-the-spot painting, photography, poster-making and collage-making.
Parakram Diwas rally
The NCC unit of PCM SD celebrated ‘Parakram Diwas’ in collaboration with United INA Freedom Fighter Arshad Association (UINAFAA) Northern Zone and Jalandhar Welfare Society to commemorate the 127th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. On the occasion, Surinder Saini, general secretary, Jalandhar Welfare Society, and secretary, Northern Zone, UINAFAA, was the chief guest. Dr Anoop Vats, president, UINAFAA, and principal, KRM DAV College, Nakodar, was the guest of honour. Principal Prof Pooja Prashar and NCC in-charge Captain Priya Mahajan accorded a green welcome to the guests. The chief guest delivered a lecture delving into Netaji’s visionary leadership style, emphasising his commitment to a free and united India. He also drew parallels between Netaji’s ideals and contemporary challenges highlighting the enduring relevance of his principles. A documentary film was also shown to the students on his life and struggle for freedom.
Int’l Design Week inaugurated
The 8th International Design Week was inaugurated at Apeejay College of Fine Arts by the Department of Design, Applied Art, Multimedia, Product Design, Sculpture and Fine Arts on the theme ‘Design Thinking’. Budi Loonen, Senior Art Director of ‘No Tomato’ ad agency Netherlands, and Dr Rawal Singh Aulakh, Assistant Professor, Department of Architecture, Guru Nanak Dev University, were present as key speakers. Principal Dr Neerja Dhingra welcomed the key speakers and Dr Sucharita Sharma (Pro Vice- Chancellor of Apeejay Stya University) and said, “The expertise and guidance of key speakers will surely guide students and foster creativity in them and learning from them will give them an exposure and experience during this International Design Week.” She also shared that the college has been organising Design Week since 2012 and since then, expert designers from the Netherlands, China and Singapore are invited to address the students. In the Design Week, 16 groups have been formed for 200 students in which they shall be sharing their ideas and making products.
Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti
Eklavya School celebrated Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti on January 23 at school campus. Primary wing students participated in slogan writing and painting. Posters and slogans were made by the students of Class IV and V. Various ideas were used by the students to make the posters. The students highlighted the sacrifices of Netaji. Chairman of Eklavya School JK Gupta lauded the students participating in the competition. He described Netaji as the most influential freedom fighter with extraordinary leadership skills and a charismatic orator.
Painting competition held
In celebration of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti, the Legal Literacy Club, PG Department of Political Science, Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority, organised a painting competition. The event, held under the guidance of Principal Ajay Sareen, witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of both UG and PG classes within the Political Science Department. The event aimed to pay tribute to the iconic leader, through the creative expressions of the participating students.
Ram Mandir consecration celebrated
Kanya Maha Vidyalaya celebrated the consecration of Shri Ram Lalla in Ayodhya. On the occasion, the Post-Graduate Department of Cosmetology’s Bachelor of Vocation (Beauty and Wellness) students showcased creative representations of Lord Ram, Sita and Lakshman through make-up. Student Nagita portrayed Lord Ram, Urvashi represented Sita, and Kumari Pooja Prajapati adorned the role of Lakshman, creating a divine and vibrant atmosphere. Principal Prof Atima Sharma Dwivedi commended the students for their creative expressions, extending congratulations to everyone on the auspicious occasion.
