Jalandhar administration cancels licences of 50 immigration firms
In a major crackdown on unauthorised immigration firms, the Jalandhar administration has cancelled the licences of 50 such businesses in the district. Deputy Commissioner Dr Himanshu Aggarwal stated that these firms had failed to renew their licences, despite being served show-cause notices. As they did not respond to the notices, the administration took strict action and cancelled their licences.
Dr Aggarwal reaffirmed the administration's commitment to protecting people from immigration firms that do not adhere to the legal norms. He urged the public to consult only registered immigration firms that have obtained proper licensing from the administration.
This move aims to curb fraudulent practices in the immigration sector and ensure that residents receive legitimate and transparent services. The DC said the administration has placed some more licences under review on account of irregularities on the part of firms. The DC also noted that these licences can also be cancelled in coming days as per the guidelines fixed by the government.
Dr Aggarwal appealed to those aspiring to go abroad to always choose legal immigration routes. He advised them to contact only registered immigration consultants, whose list is available on the websites www.jalandhar.nic.in and www.emigrate.gov.in. For more information, individuals can contact the Protector General of Emigrants helpline at 95306-41790 or email poechd@mea.gov.in. The mentioned website also provides details on immigration rules under the Immigration Act of 1983, along with a facility to file complaints related to immigration.
He also said the District Employment and Business Bureau, Jalandhar, has launched a pre-departure orientation training programme for those seeking employment abroad.
