Continuing its strict action against illegal encroachments, the Municipal Corporation Jalandhar on Tuesday carried out a major anti-encroachment drive in several areas including GTB Nagar, Model Town, Kuki Dhab Chowk and Sangha Chowk.
The drive was conducted by Inspector Neeraj Sahi under the supervision of Superintendent Amit Kalia. During the operation, both temporary and permanent encroachments that were obstructing public pathways and causing inconvenience to residents and commuters were removed. Municipal Corporation officials reiterated that public areas are meant for public use and that any kind of unauthorised occupation will not be tolerated.
MC Commissioner Gautam Jain has appealed to the public and shopkeepers to voluntarily remove encroachments, warning that failing to do so will invite strict action. Officials added that the Municipal Corporation is committed to ensuring smooth pedestrian movement, enhancing road safety, and contributing to the overall beautification of the city.
