Nirmala Sant Mandal Punjab has taken a serious note of Congress leader Pratap Singh Bajwa's alleged 'objectionable remarks' against Aam Aadmi Party MP Balbir Singh Seechewal in the Vidhan Sabha three days back.
The Mandal members have unanimously decided that till Bajwa publicly apologises for his remarks, he would not be accorded any respect in the gurudwaras. Nirmala Sant Mandal's state president Sant Santokh Singh Thala made the announcement strongly condemning the language used by Bajwa against Seechewal. He also announced that the Nirmala Sant Mandal would boycott the Congress in Punjab.
The members said that Seechewal had been engaged in the service of cleaning the holy Kali Bein river of Guru Nanak Dev. "The Congress leader's cheap statements are nothing but an attempt to gain political mileage, exposing the true mentality of the party," they said.
They added, “People worldwide regard Seechewal as a role model for environmental preservation. Time magazine has also recognised him as one of the 30 environmental heroes. Due to the selfless efforts of Seechewal and his 25-year-long service, the sacred Kali Bein now flows with clean water. Now he has also taken up the mission to clean the Budha Dariya, a task that political leaders have failed to accomplish.”
Senior religious leaders, including Sant Amrik Singh Khakhrain (Senior Meet President), Sant Harjinder Singh Chah Wale (Meet President), Jeet Singh Rara (Secretary), collectively issued a statement saying people in Punjab highly appreciate Seechewal's efforts in environmental conservation.
