Jalandhar: Calligraphy contest

Jalandhar: Eklavya School organised a calligraphy competition on its school premises to improve presentation skills and inculcate the habit of good handwriting. Chairman JK Gupta exhorted students to participate in the competition as it activates the brain and contributes to reading fluency. Director Seema Handa said the students should be encouraged to write properly and these competitions turn out to be meaningful for them. All students of pre-primary wing participated in the competition. The assessment was done on the basis of writing style, curves, patterns, legibility, neatness and beautification.

Tree plantation drive

A tree plantation drive held under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign was organised on the campus by NSS unit of Guru Nanak Dev University, Regional Campus, Ladhewali. Over 20 types of medicinal plants such as neem, ashwagandha, tulsi, calendula, costus etc. were planted on the campus. Rupum Jagota, Associate Dean (Academic Affairs & Student Welfare), exhorted the students to take part in more such initiatives. Charan Kamal Walia, Programming Officer NSS, talked about the depleting environmental conditions and their effects. Namarta Joshi, Deepkamal Randhawa, Varinder Singh, Komal, Vineet, Sheetal and Nitika were also present on the occasion.

Orientation session for new students

Apeejay College of Fine Arts organised an orientation programme for new students. The students from various streams were acquainted with the functioning of the college in this programme, which was spearheaded by the Faculty of Languages, School of Social Sciences, School of Performing Arts, and Department of Journalism and Mass Communication. Navjot S Deol apprised the students about various college activities and functions. The students were encouraged to explore their talent as inter-disciplinary learning is a special feature of this college. Principal Neerja Dhingra exhorted the students to make full use of the opportunities and platforms offered by the college.
