In a significant step towards a cleaner and more environmentally friendly city, plastic bottle crushing machines were installed across the city today, including one at PPR Market. The aim of the initiative is to promote proper plastic waste disposal and maintain cleanliness in the industrial town.

Officials of the municipal corporation (MC) said one had to put a plastic bottle into the machine and it would get crushed. Interestingly, residents have been asked to provide their mobile phone number after they put a plastic bottle into the machine. Residents will receive coupons for discounts at various outlets like Zingbus and Crave the Shake. “It’s an easy and inclusive process. Anyone can operate the crushing machine,” officials said.

Dr Sumandeep Kaur, Joint Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, encouraged residents to support this initiative as it would not only ensure safe plastic waste disposal, but also contribute to environmental protection. “This is a fantastic example of community-driven sustainability efforts and promoting cleanliness and hygiene in the city. It encourages proper plastic waste disposal and supports environmental protection. It is easy for everyone to use the machine,” she said.
