Jalandhar Civil Hospital to have latest  facilities: MP Arora

Four operation theatres, new sewerage system, extension of emergency ward, hi-tech equipment on cards

Rajya Sabha MP Sanjiv Arora along with MLA Raman Arora and Deputy Commissioner Dr Himanshu Aggarwal today visited to the Shaheed Babu Labh Singh Civil Hospital in Jalandhar. Announcing several additions to the Civil Hospital, the MP promised a upgrade the hospital's infrastructure and services.

Arora announced the construction of four new ultra-modern operation theatres within the hospital premises. Additionally, he directed the replacement of the outdated sewerage system to resolve waterlogging issues and approved the construction of new toilet blocks in the entire hospital premises.

Further renovations include painting, new flooring, wall tiling, rooftop waterproofing, replacing electrical wiring and signage board installation. The existing emergency ward will also be expanded to add 10 more beds.

The MP also sanctioned the procurement of advanced medical equipment, including portable X-ray and laparoscopy machines, to enhance diagnostic and surgical capabilities. He instructed officials to prepare a detailed project report for these upgrades to ensure the funding from the MPLAD Fund.

Highlighting the importance of accessible healthcare, Arora urged health officials to maximise enrolment under the Ayushman Bharat Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojna, enabling eligible beneficiaries to access free healthcare services. He also took stock of the ongoing construction of a 100-bedded critical care unit at the hospital and emphasised the need for its timely completion. He also visited emergency ward and directed the officials to chalk out plan for its extension.

Arora stated that healthcare remains a top priority for the government, which had already undertaken transformative measures in this sector. Assuring adequate funding for these projects, he stressed the need for efficient utilisation of resources to benefit patients. He added that these initiatives, once implemented, were expected to enhance the quality of patientcare at the Jalandhar Civil Hospital.

The Deputy Commissioner highlighted that several significant initiatives had been taken to boost healthcare infrastructure in the district. He also assured the MP of proper execution of the new projects.

The meeting was attended by Civil Surgeon Dr Gurmeet, Medical Superintendent Dr Geeta, Dr Raman Sharma and other officers.
