Jalandhar: Students of DIPS College (Co-educational) performed well in the BA examinations conducted by Guru Nanak Dev University. College Co-ordinator Harpreet Kaur said in BA first semester, Jyothika Bajaj stood first with 81.2 per cent marks, Sharanjit Kaur got second with 80.2 per cent marks, Harpreet Kaur secured third position with 79.75 per cent marks. In BA 3rd semester, Amanjot Kaur stood first with 80.5 per cent marks, Ramandeep Kaur got second with 79 per cent marks, Nisha stood third with 78.5 per cent marks. In BA final year, Pawanpreet Kaur stood first with 78 per cent marks, Harmanpreet Kaur and Sarabjit Kaur got second with 77 per cent marks, Gurpreet Kaur secured third position with 75 per cent marks. Monika secured 84.5 per cent marks in the third semester of B.Sc.

Mahatma Hans Raj remembered

A special lecture celebrating the Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Hans Raj was organised jointly by Vedic Adhyan Samiti, Department of Hindi and Department of Sanskrit at Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, under the guidance of Principal Prof Dr Ajay Sareen. The lecture was delivered by Dr SK Gautam, Principal, Dayanand Model Senior Secondary School. Eulogising the personality of Mahatma Hans Raj, Principal Dr Ajay Sareen remarked that he stands as an inspiration and role model for us. Imbibing his philosophy and following his footsteps, one can enhance own personality, she said. She motivated the young students to adopt his values and ideals so that we can build up a golden future.

Yoga Day celebrated

The NSS Department of Lyallpur Khalsa College for Women under the guidance of Principal Dr Navjot has initiated various activities to celebrate the Yoga Day as per the guidelines of the Government of India. Under this, the NSS volunteers practiced some yoga mudras/asanas under the instructions of Palka, Assistant Prof, Department of Cosmetology. This included the Surya Namaskaar, Taad Aasan, Bhujang Aasan and Pranayaam to name a few. Continuing these activities further, the students not only performed these exercises but also would continue to practice the same on the prescribed days.NSS officers Manita, Manjeet and Aatma Singh also apprised the students about the benefits of doing yoga and realised them that it is the only medicine to get rid of mental and physical ailments.

‘Brainstorm-2022’ at SD college

Students of PG Department of Commerce and Management of PCM SD College for Women brought laurels to the institution by winning several prizes at Inter-College Competition entitled ‘Brainstorm-2022’ held at KMV College. Around 26 students participated avidly in various events. The prizes that the college team got were a second prize in Aap ki Adalat, third prize in choreography and consolation prizes in ramp walk (advertisement) and in Epic Wall (Tourism Effects on Indian Economy). Members of the managing committee and Principal Dr Pooja Prashar felicitated the efforts of the students in bringing about such crowning achievements as another feather in our cap.

Campus placement drive

The Faculty of Hospitality of GNA University organised a campus drive for Radisson Group of Hotels and resorts. The Radisson Hotel team was heartily welcomed at the university premises for the campus placement round for Hospitality final year students. After screening during the interview, the company selected the students for four major locations across the country Indore, Mohali, Noida and Nagpur. Then the entire process was headed by placement coordinator of Faculty of Hospitality- Sagar Bhatt and Harpreet from the Corporate Relations Department of GNA University. The interview process was assisted by Poulomi Bhattacharya and Malkeet Singh. The representatives of the Radisson Group of Hotels and resorts appreciated the endeavours of the faculty in rendering the best to their students.

World Heritage Day observed

Hoshiarpur: The Cultural Affairs Committee of DAV College of Education, Hoshiarpur, organised heritage art and craft making competition to mark the ‘World Heritage Day’. Students of MEd/BEd Semester-II&IV participated and prepared the heritage and craft items. In this competition Bhavna Jassal got first prize in Peehri making, Bindu & Nisha got second prizes in Innu and Apron, Jasdeep and Tanisha got third prizes in Pranda and Honey Bee, Manpreet, Priyanka and Shikha got the appreciation prizes in Pakhi, Ganesha, and Wall Hanging. Principal Dr Vidhi Bhalla felicitated the winners and appreciated the efforts of the organising team. She said the day marks an understanding of our rich culture and traditions that are worth conserving. To convey an important message to the younger generation to carry forward our legacy and safeguard our culture and heritage, this is an important effort. Dr Harvinder Kaur, Dr Harpreet Singh and Indu Sharma judged the talent of the students. /OC
