Jalandhar divided into 4 vending zones

The Jalandhar Police Commissionerate, led by Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma, has divided the city into four zones by identifying 15 sites for vendors.
The Police Commissioner said vendors in the markets lead to traffic congestion. To tackle this problem, the Police Commissioner and the Municipal Corporation, led by Commissioner Aditya Uppal, divided the city into four zones. As many as 15 sites with a huge chunk of land had been identified for vendors.
Sharma said a sustainable solution was required to end the traffic problem in the city.
The CP said 15 points had been established within four designated zones in the city, providing vendors with a new space to operate from. Vendors would be provided all essential amenities in the vending zones such as water and electricity, adding that emergency response support (ERS) would conduct regular patrolling to ensure the security of the area.
Sharma said the city had been divided into four zones to shift the vendors. Zone 1 will include Transport Nagar, Industrial Area (Focal Point mandi), Bhagat Singh Colony, Maqsudan Bridge (LHS), Sodal Mandir to Bypass road near Kali Mandir road, Lamma Pind Chowk near Chara Mandi (truck parking), Guru Gobind Singh Avenue Market, Verka Chowk to Focal Point near Beant Singh Park and Ladhewali.
Zone 2 will include Chotti Baradari, Phase 1, opposite PIMS Hospital, PPR Mall towards Kewal Vihar Colony, Urban Estate, Phase 2, opposite Barista, and Chotti Baradari, Phase 1, near Taj Restaurant market.
Zone 3 would comprise of Kapurthala Road near the Irrigation Department parking and Chick-Chick Chowk near and behind Ashoka Bakery (milk bar) adjoining the park. Zone 4 will include Bhagat Singh Chowk near water tank and Sudama Market near Jyoti Chowk.
The Police Commissioner said 480 vendors would be shifted to the Transport Nagar, Industrial Area, (Focal Point mandi), 320 to Bhagat Singh Colony, Maqsudan Bridge (LHS), 72 to Sodal Mandir to bypass road near Kali Mandir road, 70 to Lamma Pind Chowk near Chara Mandi (truck parking), 20 to Guru Gobind Singh Avenue Market, 540 to Verka Chowk to Focal Point near Beant Singh Park and 196 at Ladhewali.
Similarly, he said 184 vendors would be shifted to Chotti Baradari, Phase 1, opposite PIMS Hospital. As many as 400 vendors would be shifted to the Kapurthala road near the Irrigation Department parking and 560 to Chick-Chick Chowk near and behind Ashoka Bakery (milk bar) adjoining park. As many as 80 vendors would be shifted to the Bhagat Singh Chowk near water tank.
