Jalandhar: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya Collegiate Senior Secondary School organised ‘Reminiscences’, a programme dedicated to bid farewell to students of 10+2. The parents of the students were also invited. The function commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp by Principal Prof Atima Sharma Dwivedi. On the basis of various rounds conducted in modelling, Ridhima was awarded the title of Miss Reminiscences. The second runners-up was Vidhita, while Riya was chosen as the first runners-up. Lisa received the Best Attire title, Tanveer became Miss Confident, Shambhavi was selected for the title of Best Smile and Miss Charming title was given to Rupinder. Miss Photogenic title went to Suneha, Kamalpreet won the title of Miss Elegant and Gurkiran was honoured with the title of Miss Gorgeous.
Valediction ceremony
Mayor World School organised a valediction ceremony for Grade XII students of session 2023-2024. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Director Sarita Madhok. The students of Grade XI presented dances, role play and entertaining games for their seniors. The stage was set ablaze with a ramp walk by Grade XII students. Gia Saini and Ruhaan Arora were declared Ms Mayorite and Mr Mayorite, respectively. The titles of Ms Charming, Mr Handsome and Best Outfit (Female) and Best Outfit (Male) were won by Ananya Shoor, Dev Puri, Khushi Rajput and Arnav Choudhary, respectively. The fun titles given to all the outgoing students were jocular and amusing. Vice-Chairperson Neerza Mayor gave her blessings and wished good luck to the students of Grade XII.
Musical bliss
PCM SD College for Women held a musical event as Punjabi folk singer Dalwinder Dayalpuri visited the college campus. The students danced to the tunes of the singer’s melodious numbers. The entire campus reverberated with his rhythmic strains. Several eating stalls were put up for the students. Mementoes were presented to the guests at the conclusion of the event. In-charge of the programme Kanwaljit Kaur received appreciation from the management and college Principal Prof Pooja Prashar.
Workshop at DAVIET
DAV Institute of Engineering and Technology recently hosted a workshop, ‘Unlocking Potential’, in collaboration with the Department of Business Administration and with support from the Government of India’s Swavlambi Bharat Abhiyan. Dr Anil Soni, Head of the Department of Business Administration, highlighted its pivotal role in shaping innovative individuals, and connecting entrepreneurship with economic growth and job creation. Principal Dr Sanjeev Naval stressed the importance of cultivating entrepreneurial ecosystems within educational institutions, lauding the efforts of Dr Megha Munjal and Dr Anand Bajaj. He also mentioned the on-campus Idea Incubation Centre dedicated to supporting students’ entrepreneurial ideas. Sidharth Sharma, Advisor to Haryana Chief Minister, discussed government initiatives such as “Startup India” and “Standup India”. Dr Ashish Arora, Head of the Department of University Business School, provided valuable insights during the workshop’s segment on idea generation and validation.
National Children’s Science Congress
Two students of Kamla Nehru Public School, Chak Hakim, Phagwara, would represent Kapurthala at the National Children’s Science Congress. The 31st Punjab State Level Children’s Science Congress was organised on February 3 at Rayat-Bahra Group of Institutions, Hoshiarpur. Out of the 1,200 science projects put up by students, three were selected for the nationals. The project, ‘Effect of vehicle-generated dust on roadside vegetation’ under the theme ‘Understanding Ecosystem for Health and Well-being’ is the only one selected to represent Kapurthala district at the National Children’s Science Congress. Sameera and Vanshika Soni, Grade XI students, presented their project under the mentorship of Rajeev Choudhary, PGT Chemistry. PK Dhillon, Principal (Administration and Innovation), congratulated the students. Pankaj Sardan, president, School Managing Committee, appreciated the efforts of the students and wished them good luck for the upcoming nationals.
Inter-College Quiz Competition
The quiz team of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya brought laurels by bagging first position in the Inter-College Quiz Competition organised by Sri Guru Teg Bahadur University College, Sathiala. The quiz was conducted in two rounds, comprising a preliminary written test and the main round. The team of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya comprising Nazam, Alisha and Pooja Kumari won the first prize, scoring 145 marks. They were awarded certificates, individual trophies and a cash prize of Rs 7,000. Principal Prof Ajay Sareen congratulated the teams and teacher in-charge Binoo Gupta. Principal Dr Sareen also appreciated the efforts of Protima, Assistant Professor in History and Anchal Mahajan, Assistant Professor in Commerce.
