Jalandhar: A student of BCom Financial Services Semester VI of PCM SD College for Women has excelled in the GNDU examinations. Gargi distinguished herself by securing the first position in the university with a score of 1,696 (82.73%) out of 2,050 marks. This outstanding achievement has made the institution proud as president Naresh Budhia, senior vice-president Vinod Dada and Principal Prof Pooja Prashar have extended their heartfelt congratulations to Gargi and wished her continued success in her future endeavors.

Orientation Programme held

Lajpat Rai Library, DAV College, organised a orientation programme aimed to familiarise new students with the library, extensive resources and services. An eight-day long event, which attracted a diverse group of attendees, was held in the library. It started with students of Class XI and was followed by all Under Graduate Classes such as B.Com, B.Sc, BAJMC, BFST, BBA and BA. Principal Rajesh Kumar inaugurated the programme and said that the goal is to ensure that each and every library visitor feels at home and knows how to make the most of library resources and services. The college library is always available to support patron’s learning, research and recreational needs. He said DAV College Library has a huge collection of over 2 lakh books. The books are made available to the meritorious and underprivileged students free of cost under Book Bank Scheme of library, he added. HOD Naveen Saini and Librarian Shaveta conducted various sessions on effective research techniques, offering tips on how to navigate both physical and digital resources, to access and utilise the library’s e-books and online journals.

Books distributed for free

Kanya Maha Vidyalaya has commenced Book Bank which operates under the aegis of the Department of Student Welfare. KMV Book Bank is a remarkable initiative of Department of Student Welfare under which each semester students distributes free of cost books to the students in order to facilitate the students. This book bank is a regular feature at KMV and it will continue for 10 days so that no student who is in the need of books should be left out. It is pertinent to mention that this semester more than 500 books have been distributed. Principal Prof Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that KMV’s Book Bank is one of the wonderful initiatives of KMV. Students deposit the syllabus oriented books of their previous classes in the Book Bank and those who want to use the books can collect them from the Book Bank without a need to buy them.

International Tiger Day

Global Tiger Day was organised at the campus of Ivy World School witnessed a vibrant display of creativity. To promote this cause, Iviyans took part in many interesting activities ranging from book mark making, tiger craft puppets, poster making to face painting. The students also conducted tiger word search quiz, declamation and debates where the young leaders spoke about ‘Save Tigers’ and shared important facts about tigers and their pivotal role in balancing and maintaining the ecosystem. They expressed how these wild life species will be on the verge of extinction if we don’t join hands to save them. Director Aditi Vasal appreciated all the efforts made by the students.

Kirti tops B.Com exam

Students of B.Com Sem-VI (Hons.) of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya brought laurels to the institution by holding first and third positions in Guru Nanak Dev University in May 2024 exams. Kriti topped the university by scoring 170 marks out of 200 marks and Deepali Buggal secured third position with 162 marks. Principal Prof Ajay Sareen congratulated the Head of the Department Meenu Kohli, faculty members and students for the achievement. On the occasion, Binoo Gupta was also present.

Visit to Apahaj Aashram

Students of classes IX and X of Shiv Jyoti Public School went to Apahaj Aashram and contributed to give eatables to the dejected people living there.The students were sensitised to be empathetic towards such strata of the society alongwith their teachers supervised the visit. English department took the initiative to inculcate patriotism in their students by telling the true stories of valour and inculcating in them the spirit of patriotism and importance of Kargil Vijay Diwas.The whole week activities were done under supervision of Bhavna Sabharwal, activity coordinator of the school with the cooperation of the teachers and students. The technical support was given by Computer Department. Principal Parveen Saili acknowledged the efforts of the students and staff members to be involved during the activities.
