Jalandhar girl, Ludhiana lad score 99.8% in Class X

Mehtab Kaur Multani, a student of MGN Public School, Urban Estate Phase II, has topped the state in CBSE Class X examinations, the results of which were declared this afternoon. She bagged a near-perfect score of 99.8 per cent.

Mehtab was followed by Raghav Arora of Swami Sant Dass Public School, who secured 99.6 per cent.

Both the toppers credited their teachers and parents for the success. They said this wouldn’t have been possible without their support and motivation.

Talking to The Tribune, an elated Mehtab said she didn’t expect she would be the state and the district topper. “I started crying when I saw my result. My whole family had tears of joy, and I just can’t express my happiness in words,” Mehtab said, adding that she followed an easy timetable and didn’t put any pressure on herself. “Self-study was my key to success,” she said.

Hailing from a family of doctors, Mehtab too has now taken medical stream in Class XI. She said like her mother and father, she also wants to become a medical expert.

In Ludhiana, Pratham Jain of MGM Public School, Dugri, obtained 99.8 per cent in Class X. He scored perfect 100 in English, Punjabi, maths and science.

Aditya Sagar of DAV Public School, BRS Nagar, secured 99.6 per cent while Nehal Bansal and Ria Bhutani of Sacred Heart Convent School got 99.6 per cent.

In Amritsar, Sparsh of Senior Study II secured 99.6 per cent. She aspires to become a cardiologist. She scored perfect 100 in Punjabi, maths and social science. “I relied on self-study. To de-stress, I used to do colouring,” she said.

Mohitpreet Singh, Vikramjit Singh and Devangi of DCM International School in Ferozepur secured 99.4 per cent, 99.2 per cent and 99 per cent, respectively.

In Bathinda, Samaira Kalra, a student of Silver Oaks School, secured 99.2 per cent in Class X. Vandana Midha, mother of Samaira Kalra, said, “She has always been a hard working student. Samaira’s grandparents helped her a lot in accomplishing her goals. She wants to become a neurologist.”
