Jalandhar: Harvinder, Samina declared best athletes at 'Trailblazers'

Kanya Maha Vidyalaya organised its annual athletics meet titled ‘Trailblazers ’ here on Tuesday. The squads were led by players of national and international time as the display of discipline and team spirit was spectacular. During the colourful progression of the day, various events in the categories for players and non-players took place namely 100 m and 200 m race, long jump, sack race, spoon and potato race, shot put, 400 m race for non-players. The other events for the faculty included tug-of-war and musical chairs. The best athlete (non player) was bagged by Harvinder and the best athlete (player) was bagged by Samina.
The winners for the various events were 100 m (non-player) — Nisha, Harvinder and Sakshi were first, second and third respectively, 100 m (player) — Samina, Manpreet and Geeta Rani, and Lovedeep Kaur were first, second and third, respectively.
In three-legged race (non player) — Harvinder and Nisha, Preeti and Shanu and Simran and Yashika were first, second and third, sack race- Simranpreet, Amisha and Ripudaman were first second and third, 200 m (non-player)- Harvinder, Sakshi and Vinakshi were first, second and third, 200 m (player)- Samina, Manpreet and Neha were first, second and third, long jump (non-player) — Harvinder, Nisha and Rinkal were first, second and third, long jump (players) —Asha, Samina and Simran, and Reenu were first, second and third respectively, spoon and potato race — Neha and Shruti were first and second, respectively, 400 m (player) — Radha, Manpreet and Renu were first, second and third respectively, 400 m (non player) — Sakshi, Harshita and Rinkal were first, second and third respectively, shot put (players) — Renu, Ritika and Kavita and Ramandeep were first, second and third respectively, relay race (Players)- Radha, Geeta, Manpreet and Samina were first, Neha, Divyanshi, Kavita and Sonia were second and Harmanpreet, Ramandeep, Simran Kaur and Renu were third respectively, 50 m (women faculty below 35) – Baldina, Garima Deepika were first, second and third respectively, 50 m (women faculty above 35) — Dr Harpreet Kaur, Dr Sangeeta and Dr Neetu Chopra were first, second and third, respectively, three-legged race (women)- Aman and Gurkiran were first, Kulbir and Heena were second and Dimple and Sandeep were third respectively.
Principal Prof Dr Atima Sharma Dwivedi welcomed the chief guest Chander Mohan, president, Arya Shiksha Mandal. After the unfurling of KMV sports flag, it was time for march past by volleyball, handball, football, kho kho athletes and NCC squad of the collage.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Dwivedi congratulated all the sportswomen who had made their mark in the field of sports. Chander Mohan said the face of sports had seen a sea change in the recent years as women had entered the arena of sports with aplomb in the 21st century.
The chief guest for the closing ceremony was Prof (Dr) Sukhdev Singh, Director Sports and Head, Department of Physical Education, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. Along with him, Dr Amardeep Singh, Deputy Director, Sports, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, and Dr Jatinderpal were also present. On this occasion, all the winners of the various events and the coaches of different games were honoured by the chief guest. Principal lauded the efforts of Dr Davinder and Baldina for organising the annual athletics meet.
