Jalandhar: The NSS Department of Lyallpur Khalsa College for Women celebrated the National Girl Child Day on Wednesday wherein a rally was organised and NSS volunteers took a pledge to create an inclusive environment that not only recognises but also amplifies the voice of girls. A poster-making competition was also organised on the occasion. Principal Dr Navjot addressed the students and stated that every girl has the potential to achieve greatness, and it is the society’s collective responsibility to ensure their growth and success. Through education, encouragement and equality, one can certainly pave the way for their success. The Principal appreciated the efforts of NSS officers Aatma Singh and Sarabjit Kaur.
13 students selected for march past
Thirteen students of Lyallpur Khalsa College will participate in the march past in the regional event at Guru Gobind Singh Stadium in Jalandhar, while NCC cadets Abhishek Kumar and Gudiya Verma will represent the college at Kartavya Path in Delhi in Republic Day parade. Principal Dr Jaspal Singh stated that the college was happy with the efforts and accomplishments of its students. Although there isn’t a tableau of Punjab on Republic Day this year, six boys and girls from Lyallpur Khalsa College will take part in the march past in Delhi. All students are selected after competing at the national level. Six students from Lyallpur Khalsa College are taking part in the Republic Day parade. He added that led by Senior Under Officer Jaspreet, Under Officer Mohan Thakur and Ravinder Singh, the college students will participate in the Republic Day celebrations in Jalandhar. Currently, Havildar Rajwinder Singh is training the cadets in the stadium as part of the college’s NCC unit, which is associated with the 2 Punjab NCC Battalion. On the occasion, NCC Officer Dr Karanbir Singh and NSS Programme Officer Prof Satpal Singh were also present.
Capacity-building programme
Echo India and Army College of Nursing (ACN), Jalandhar, have formalised a partnership through a MoU, introducing innovative capacity building programmes to enhance expertise of nurses in cancer prevention, early detection and spreading awareness. The ACN, dedicated to the education of daughters of Army personnel, is a key institution within the Army Welfare Education Society. Recognised by the Indian Nursing Council, ACN plays a crucial role in contributing to healthcare education. Echo India is a non-profit trust dedicated to enhancing community well-being by empowering frontline professionals through capacity-building initiatives. Prof Vadivukkarasi P, Principal of ACN, shared her enthusiasm about the collaboration, highlighting that “partnering with Echo India for capacity-building and upskilling nurses holds myriad benefits for healthcare institutions”. Dr Sandeep Bhalla, Associate Vice-President, Echo India, emphasised the significance of the partnership, stating, “This collaboration is a crucial step towards strengthening healthcare system, ensuring nurses are equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary for improved patient outcomes.”
