Dr Alka Mehta, hailing from Jalandhar, has been nominated for the Queen Victoria Award in the UK for her contribution. Dr Mehta, founder of an international chain of skin and healthcare centres, situated in London, Mohali, Pathankot, Delhi, Bangalore and Kapurthala, was recognised for her work in Artificial Intelligence (AI) for diagnosis.

Her innovative AI-based self-diagnosis software in skincare revolutionised patient care by ensuring accurate diagnosis, appropriate medication and continuous monitoring. Her dedication to medical excellence earned her the Best Medical Practices Award from the European Medical Association in 2017. She was also honoured for establishing the first Digital Dermatology and Laser Hospital in her home state.

After having earned her MD in Dermatology and VD from Medical College, Amritsar, she embarked on a journey of healthcare entrepreneurship, venturing into the UK market over two decades ago. Expressing her passion for providing affordable skincare solutions in India, she emphasised her commitment to leveraging technology to benefit patients nationwide.

Renowned for her success in treating vitiligo and psoriasis patients, Dr Mehta boasts a track record of over one million successfully treated patients worldwide. She said she aimed at bridging the gap in healthcare between the East and West by advocating for integration of technology into medical practice.
