It was a memorable experience for Tamanna, Charanpreet Kaur, Bhawna, Alina, Navneet, Srishti and Lavleen of Government Primary School, Rurka Kalan, as they took part in a national level scouts and guides camp in Haryana from February 19 to 23.
Centre head teacher from government school, Rurka Kalan, Buta Ram said from Punjab, students from primary schools in Ludhiana and Jalandhar took part in the camp. “We also took them to Delhi where they saw several monuments. They also enjoyed the experience of sitting in the Metro,” the head teacher said.
The students took part in folk dance, plays, drama and other activities. “A scouting inspection was also carried out in which cleanliness, uniform and other important factors were checked and we won a position in that,” said Buta Ram.
For the students, it was a new experience as they would wake up at 5 am, exercise and do their own chores. They would sleep in tents without any light.
Lavleen, a Class III student of the school showcased Punjab’s culture and gave a presentation in front of Gaurav Gautam, Minister of State for Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship, Haryana.
“The children were very happy. Also, it is for the first time that we have won so many prizes. Such events and campus prove life-changing for the students as they get to learn so much,” he said.
