Jalandhar: Happy classroom workshop of the CBSE was held at MGN Public School. Resource persons Shivani and Upasana Rishi Raj from Cambridge School involved every teacher in numerous activities while proceeding their session. Interaction and discussions brought forward number of problems, reasons and solutions to them. The resource persons tried to highlight all factors and provide remedies to different problems. EXPERTS DEVELOP FUTURISTIC CURRICULUM
Kanya Maha Vidyalaya claims to have developed a futuristic curriculum and innovative programmes with inputs from 140 academicians from top universities in India and abroad including the experts from the UGC, the MHRD, the DPI and Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, as well as industry experts. The comprehensive plan has been shaped and refined through deliberations in meetings of the board of studies of each department, the academic council, and the governing body. Principal Prof Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that the curriculum development process had been enriched by insights and expertise of 140 distinguished academicians from premier institutions such as the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), National Institute of Technology (NITs) and renowned universities of the world. Their diverse perspectives and academic prowess were instrumental in shaping a robust and forward-thinking curriculum. She also maintained that the college had engaged with leading industry professionals from sectors such as technology, finance, healthcare, engineering, media and the creative industries.
Faculty development programme
St Soldier Law College started a one- week faculty development programme (FDP) for its teachers. Prof Dr Satish Verma, former RBI Professor of Economics, was the resource person for the first day. The theme of the FDP is “Adopting new education policy in professional colleges”. Dr Verma gave the historical background of New Education Policy and its main features. He underscored the need for equipping higher education institutions in terms of infrastructure, teaching faculty, inter-disciplinary approach in curriculums, liberal education and teaching methods for adopting New Education Policy. Dr SC Sharma, course coordinator, welcomed the guests and Prof Monica Khanna presented the vote of thanks. There was a productive question-answer session after the lecture. Group chairman Anil Chopra and vice chairperson Sangeeta Chopra appreciated the initiative of the law college.
Folk dance camp begins
A 10-day Punjabi folk dance Bhangra training camp for the preservation of the Punjabi heritage was inaugurated on Thursday at the open air theatre of Lyallpur Khalsa College. The chief guest during the opening ceremony camp was Vice Principal Prof Jasreen Kaur. She was welcomed by Dr Palwinder Singh, dean, cultural affairs, Dr Navdeep Kaur, Dr Balraj Kaur and the organizing committee with a bouquet. Principal Dr Jaspal Singh said the camp was making a valuable contribution in nurturing new artistes. Prof Jasreen Kaur said such camps connected young Punjabis to their heritage. She said the youth and children should avail benefits from such camps. Training camp in-charge Dr Palwinder Singh Bolina said the registration for the camp was done online and offline. He said more than 400 students were participating in the camp. Prof Satpal Singh managed the stage.
USA Summer School Programme
Vasal Education students from Cambridge International School, Dasuya, GEMS Cambridge International School, Hoshiarpur, and IVY World School, Jalandhar, respectively, embarked on a 15-day summer school programme as a part of the prestigious “Access USA summer school residential mobility programme”. The programme was hosted by Access USA, Michigan College Alliance, in University of Detroit Mercy (UDM), USA, provided participating students an opportunity to think out of the box, explore education options abroad and create independent solutions. The campus students earned the unique chance to attend this programme with other international students from countries like the USA, Mexico, Peru, Spain, Chile and Dubai, respectively. They completed three credits on campus in courses in different streams like business and innovation, artificial intelligence, robotics, transportation and design streams. The curriculum of these courses helped young explorers to know about learning strategies in the US universities and colleges. During this programme, these scholars were introduced to the admission procedures, campus life and facilities. Besides, they visited the famous “Henry Ford’s Automotive Hall of Fame” (AHF) where they witnessed an antique car show and learned about the origin and history of the world’s famous cars. CEO Raghav Vasal shared that the primary vision and goal of the partnership was to provide an exceptional platform for students aspiring to pursue higher studies in an international environment.
College students excel in BEd exams
Phagwara: Kamla Nehru College of Education for Women achieved 100% result in BEd (First semester) university exams. Geetika stood second in the university with 8.50 SGPA. Radhika Sood and Dimple stood sixth with 8.10 SGPA and Avneet Kaur bagged the seventh place with 8.00 SGPA. The college management, Principal Dr Harvinder Kaur and staff members congratulated all students for excelling in exams and encouraged them to keep attaining the heights of success in future too. Dr Harvinder Kaur said the centralised registration for admission of BEd 2024-25 session had started. She said the Centralised Common Entrance Test (CET) for this course would be conducted on August 4 by Panjab University, Chandigarh.
