Jarnail Singh Memorial Football tourney begins

The 21st state-level Olympian Jarnail Singh Memorial Football Tournament organised by the Olympian Jarnail Singh Memorial Football Tournament Committee, Garhshankar, commenced today. The tournament is being held at the Jarnail Singh Memorial Football Stadium of Babbar Akali Khalsa College. It was inaugurated by SGPC Senior Vice-President Jathedar Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa and Sant Charanjit Singh Jassowal performed ‘Ardas’. SGPC members Jang Bahadur Singh Roy and Jassowal introduced the players and released balloons to mark the opening of the tournament.

In the rural category the first match was won by Paddi Sura Singh as they defeated Chak Phulu 4-0, while Panam defeated Samundra 1-0 in the second. In the college category Khalsa College, Garhshankar, faced Football Academy, Baddon. Khalsa College defeated the latter 5-0.
