“We will revive the Panth,” asserted Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh, President of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Rebel Group), while addressing a gathering at Guru Nanak College, Phagwara, where he was honoured with a Kirpan and Siropa.
Calling upon Punjabis from both villages and towns to unite, Singh announced that a state-wide campaign would soon be launched to safeguard Sikh interests and bring the community together.
He urged people not to be distracted by political allegations, dismissing the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal)’s charge that his group was receiving Central Government support as a “habitual tactic” of SAD (B).
The felicitation ceremony, organised by local leaders, witnessed the participation of several prominent Sikh figures, including Sukhdev Singh Phagwara (Spokesperson, Alliance of Sikh Organisations), Parampal Singh Sapra (Coordinator, Alliance of Sikh Organisations), former SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur, and Saroop Singh, along with many local supporters.
Following the programme, Giani Harpreet Singh, accompanied by Bibi Jagir Kaur and Sukhdev Singh Phagwara, visited the residence of UK Member of Parliament Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi.
