Judicial officers, lawyers join hands for flood relief

The meeting was held in line with the directions of Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra, Punjab and Haryana High Court and Executive Chairman, Punjab State Legal Services Authority, as well as the instructions of the Member Secretary, Punjab State Legal Services Authority.
During the deliberations, the floods and their impact on Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district were reviewed and relief measures were planned under the framework of the “NALSA (Legal Services to Disaster Victims) Scheme, 2010.”
Sood emphasized the need for timely support and announced the formation of block-level teams to assist people in every possible way. These teams will comprise judicial officers, president and secretary of the Bar Associations at SBS Nagar and Balachaur, panel advocates, and para-legal volunteers.
It was decided that the secretary, District Legal Services Authority, SBS Nagar, will oversee the functioning of all teams to ensure coordination and accountability. The DLSA also established communication with the district administration to assess the ground situation, and agreed that the constituted teams would work in close coordination with the administration to carry out relief operations in flood-affected areas.
