35 schools takepart in event
- Around 35 collegiate schools participated in the event. Kabir of Class XII (Arts) bagged the third position in ‘Cleanliness and Health’ model. Navjot Kaur of Class XI (non-medical) won the third position in ‘Education, Games and Mathematical’ model.
Phagwara, November 18
Students of MLU DAV Collegiate Senior Secondary School, Phagwara, participated at the state-level science exhibition aiming at ‘Science and Technology for Sustainable Development’ organised by the District Education Officer, Kapurthala and State Science Education Research and Training Council.
The event was held at Pyramid College of Business and Technology, Phagwara.
Around 35 collegiate schools participated in the event. Kabir of Class XII (Arts) bagged the third position in ‘Cleanliness and Health’ model. Navjot Kaur of Class XI (non-medical) won the third position in ‘Education, Games and Mathematical’ model. Principal Dr Kiranjeet Randhawa congratulated the winners and other participants.
Randhawa said: “The education in today’s scenario aims at the holistic development of the children. The goal of harmonious development is achievable only with pragmatic approach towards education. This approach imparts learning by doing and experiencing new things.”
“Exhibitions, seminars, projects, presentations are the medium of wholesome development of the students in schools and colleges. Educational institutions organise such exhibitions and seminars to enhance the knowledge of students and make learning a fun and help the teachers to teach and enlighten the students to learn new things easily and in a better way,” added the principal.
Randhawa said: “We are living in a developing country and science has a vital role to play in the development of any country or the world as a whole. It is the science that has helped us to reach the moon, measure the depth of the sea and revealed many secrets of the living and non-living things.”
The principal apprised the students of that our planet ‘Earth’ was facing lots of challenges that could only be dealt with the interference of a scientific approach. Problems like global warming, pollution, plastic, fuel consumption, water wastage and other areas like development in the field of modes of communication, transportation, medicine etc. all need a scientific mind.
