Kalarru village woman arrested for extortion, cheating, snatching
The Shahkot police have arrested a woman on the charges of extortion, cheating and snatching. Station House Officer (SHO) Jatinder Singh said the suspect was identified as Mamta Ranni, a resident of Kalarru village under Sultanpur Lodhi police station in Kapurthala.
Narinder Singh (58), a resident of Jainpur village, complained to the police that he had a commission agent shop in Sultanpur Lodhi grain market. The complainant said he received a phone call on September 9 in which the caller introduced himself as old labourer, who worked at his shop for many years. The caller offered to provide the labour force to Narinder and also invited him to his Saidpur village.
The complainant had said he reached caller’s village and asked him to disclose exact location of the house. When the complainant reached caller’s house, one person accompanied him inside a room where a half-naked girl was sitting on a bed. The complainant said three unidentified persons came into the room and pushed him onto the bed.
Narinder stated in his complaint that all the suspects demanded Rs 5 lakh from him and threatened to get a rape case registered against him if he did not pay money to them. The complainant said when he refused to accept their demand, the suspects started beating him. Narinder said the suspects stanched Rs 15,000, an Apple watch, and four ATM cards from him while forcing him to disclose PIN codes and to sign a cheque of the SBI.
Narinder said the suspects withdrew Rs 20,000 from his bank account using his ATM cards. The victim said the suspects demanded more money by calling him on his cellphone and also threatened him to keep his mouth shut. The victim said the suspects made a video of indecent acts in the room viral on social media.
The complainant managed to identify one of the suspects as Joshan Preet Singh who planned the whole conspiracy. — OC
