Kapurthala Heritage Festival begins

The Kapurthala Heritage Festival 2025 commenced with great pomp and show at local Guru Nanak Stadium. Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal inaugurated the festival by lighting the ceremonial lamp.

He stated that the festival, organised by the government with the aim of showcasing the state’s rich heritage, will prove to be a guiding path. He further added that special efforts will be made to develop Kapurthala, famously known as the "Paris of Punjab," as a tourism hub.

During the heritage festival, renowned singers Mohammad Irshad and Meet Kaur showcased their artistic talents. Through their Sufi renditions, both artistes captivated the audience, holding them spellbound.

Prior to this, a documentary film highlighting Kapurthala’s heritage was screened, which received enthusiastic appreciation from the viewers.

In the daytime cultural programme, students from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Masitan, and Lyallpur Khalsa College presented various facets of cultural diversity. Additionally, a Dhadhi Jatha led by Gurjit Singh also performed.

Attendees included chairperson of the District Planning Board Lalit Saklani, ADC, Phagwara, Dr Akshita Gupta, ADC Navneet Kaur Bal, ADC, Development, Varinderpal Singh Bajwa, Science Technology Board member Kanwar Iqbal Singh, joint secretary Parvinder Singh Dhot along with a large number of spectators.
