The 26th Anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas was observed with full military honours and solemnity by Vajra Corps, paying tribute to the indomitable courage and supreme sacrifice of Indian Army soldiers during Operation Vijay in 1999.
Formations across the Corps area were engaged in a series of commemorative and outreach activities. War heroes and the families of martyrs were honoured, while their inspiring stories were highlighted through public engagements. These events included educational and patriotic programmes, such as lectures, debates, quizzes, and painting competitions, designed to instil historical awareness and national pride among children and youth.
The highlight of the day was a solemn wreath-laying ceremony, attended by veterans, serving personnel and their families. Lieutenant General Ajay Chandpuria, General Officer Commanding, Vajra Corps, paid floral tributes to the martyrs and addressed the gathering. In his remarks, he lauded the unmatched valour of soldiers during the Kargil conflict and reaffirmed the Army’s unwavering commitment to the families of the martyrs. He urged all ranks to remain inspired by their legacy and uphold the glorious traditions of the Indian Army and the honour of the Tricolour.
The day was also observed by Kashyap Naujawan Sabha at Jal Vilas Palace, where the families of martyrs were invited and honoured. Local schools joined the commemoration as well. Apeejay School, Model Town, marked Kargil Vijay Diwas with an assembly featuring patriotic songs, speeches, and poems, paying tribute to the bravery of the Indian Armed Forces. The students also staged a powerful nukkad natak (street play), illustrating the courage and sacrifices made by soldiers during the Kargil War.
Students of Apeejay School also visited Major Kapil Vinayak Chowk to pay homage to the martyr. Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (KMV) also observed Kargil Vijay Diwas, with a programme organised by the Department of Student Welfare and NCC.
