Former minister of the Delhi Government Arvinder Singh Lovely today tried to debunk the campaign of Aam Aadmi Party in the state calling all promises of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal as farce.

Lovely, who was here at Congress Bhawan, said: “I am in Delhi politics and it is my moral responsibility to come to Punjab to tell you the truth about the fake Delhi model being used by Kejriwal in Punjab. You all know that the pollution in Delhi is always at an alarming level and the air quality index is the highest among all the cities of the country, and Kejriwal blames it for the burning of stubble by the farmers of Punjab. The reality is that the Kejriwal government has ruined the transport system of Delhi. When the Congress government was in Delhi, there were about 10,000 buses in the DTC fleet, but in Kejriwal’s government it has come down to just around 2,500. The result is that due to inadequacy of transport system, people are being forced to use private vehicles on a larger scale and this has become a serious factor in increasing pollution in Delhi.”

The ex-Delhi minister added: “Kejriwal calls himself to be a well-wisher of Sikhs, but I want to ask him why there is not even a single Sikh in his cabinet in Delhi?”

Talking about education in Delhi, he said: “There are 18,000 posts of teachers lying vacant in Delhi and the result is that the student-teacher ratio in Delhi is second lowest in India. When the Congress government was in Delhi, about 18 lakh children are studying in government schools and today it has come down to about 16 lakh under Kejriwal government.”

Anand Madhab, AICC coordinator in-charge media and communication (Punjab Election), moderated the press conference.
